चित्तौड़गढ़ राजपूताना बहादुरी, गर्व और जुनून की कहानियों से भरा हुआ है। राजस्थान के कवि हिम्मत और कुर्बानी की ऐसी कहानियाँ गाते हैं जो शहर के हर बच्चे और बड़े को पता हैं। चित्तौड़गढ़ का नाम इसकी सबसे शानदार बनावट, चित्तौड़गढ़ किले के नाम पर रखा गया है, जो 180 मीटर ऊँची पहाड़ी पर बना है और 700 एकड़ में फैला हुआ है।
चित्तौड़गढ़ किले का अतीत उतार-चढ़ाव भरा रहा है। राजपूतों के इस गढ़ पर इसके पूरे इतिहास में तीन बार हिंसक हमले हुए हैं। पहला हमला 1303 में हुआ था जब दिल्ली के सुल्तान अलाउद्दीन खिलजी ने किया था, और 1533 में, गुजरात के सुल्तान बहादुर शाह ने बहुत तबाही मचाई थी। चार दशक बाद, 1568 में, मुगल बादशाह अकबर ने हमला किया और किले पर कब्ज़ा कर लिया। आखिरकार 1616 में, मुगल बादशाह जहाँगीर के राज में यह किला राजपूतों को वापस मिल गया।

Fateh Prakash Palace (Government Museum)
Constructed by Maharana Fateh Singh, this palace functioned as his residence. It was built in the Rajput style of architecture as a declaration of his taste for art and culture. It has now been converted into a museum. The palace has a vast collection of wood crafts of Bassi village, post medieval statues of Jain Ambica and Indra from Rashmi village, weapons such as axes, knives and ancient shields, clay replicas of regional tribal people clad in their traditional costumes, paintings, and crystal ware. The fort of Chittor has six Jain temples contained within its walls.
